• The American Photonics CO2 Laser Alignment Tool is a time-saving solution for anyone struggling with the hassle of optical alignment. The specialized red laser pointer mounts to your engraving machine’s laser head. It continuously simulates the CO2 laser beam by emitting a harmless red dot, making it easy to align each mirror in reverse order. Make your alignment process significantly safer and more accessible—no more struggling with taped mirrors and repeated test-fires!
• Step 1: Remove your standard lens tube and insert the reverse alignment tool in its place. Turn on the alignment tool’s red dot. Align the mirrors in reverse order. Start with mirror #3 on the laser head and mirror #2 on the gantry, using the red dot as your guide. Ensure alignment at both near and far positions.
• Step 2: Align mirror #2 on the gantry to mirror #1 next to the laser tube. Ensure alignment at both near and far positions. Once you achieve perfect alignment for mirrors #2 and #3, lock them in place.
• Step 3: Apply a small piece of tape to cover mirror #1 and mark a target spot where the red dot hits it. Now remove the alignment tool from the laser head.
• Step 4: Adjust the laser tube to hit the target spot on mirror #1. The tube does not need to be level. Adjust the front and back supports independently to hit the target spot.
• Step 5: Reinstall the reverse alignment tool. Put tape over the laser entry hole on the laser head. Mark a target spot where the red dot hits the backside of the tape. Remove the alignment tool.
• Step 6: Adjust mirror #1 at both near (top nearest corner to the laser tube) and far positions (farthest corner from the laser tube) to the target spot on the laser head. Your optical alignment is now complete.
